“Though small, though not as privileged as many of us are, these little souls are so inspiring. Their Mpeg gave me a different happiness that I couldn’t find elsewhere. I proudly support their education. It’s#MyMissionEducation.- Gudiya Mishra”
“Interning at MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP has been an enriching experience for me. I was genuinely impressed by the organizational structure of MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP which is a perfect combination of an NGO working in a corporate way. The dedication and commitment of people working here towards the visions and missions of this foundation is overwhelmingly amazing. During the internship, I everyday learnt something new from my colleagues here. Being a part of the Corporate Partnership team/department, I have gained exposure to the research and marketing world and developed invaluable skills which will definitely help me in my future endeavors. My supervisors were extremely encouraging and supportive, continuously guiding me in the right direction. I really appreciate their help and thoughtfulness. Working at Mpeg has been a great learning curve for me through which not only I have gained a deeper insight into the functioning of charitable organizations, but also that of the corporate world. I truly felt like a part of the Mpeg community and I was by all means treated like one. This entire journey has been extremely enlightening and enjoyable for me.”
“I had a great privilege to work with the Mpeg Twin e-Learning Program (STeP) of MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP as an intern. It was an enriching experience to work with MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP. The STeP team with whom I was working was amazing. The internship gave me a wonderful exposure as to how an NGO works and how various projects are implemented and how they are monitored. While working with STeP I was able to learn many things like how to make case studies, donor reports, data Sheets etc. Also I was able to take personality development classes at various centers where STeP training program was offered and was able to interact with the students at the centre. During my internship I was able to understand how work is coordinated professionally. I would also like to thank Mr. Tony and Mr. Prashant who were instrumental in molding me during the internship at Mpeg. It was a joy to work with them and they inspired me to do my best at work.”
“My one month internship with MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP was indeed very satisfying and enriching one. I am currently doing Law and the reason behind perusing this Internship was to reach out to those people who are in need of help. I would like to Thank MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP for giving me this opportunity. It was pleasure working with the Individual Partnership department, where you call up firms, make them understand about our project and ask them to come forward and support the cause. In Order to run an NGO and to make sure that these underprivileged children are getting a better life, one need to have proper funds and IP department took care of it. I was highly privileged to work with IP team , they made me understand and told me how the MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP works , they also helped and guided me when ever needed , they created very peaceful , co-operative environment where one can easily work . Though I would always crib as this Internship required 2 hours of travelling every day, the experience was worth it as it really inspires me to give back to the society. As the word Umeed lives up to its name. It gives one the hope that things can be changed and will change.”
“The educational and health services being provided by MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP in the villages of Padarkhedi, Bablikheda, Ahmedapur, Chainpura and Bhumlakhedi are benefitting many people, particularly those coming from underprivileged families.”

“Working with MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP was one of its own experience. I was assigned the responsibility of providing managerial assistance to the Individual Partnership Department of MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP. During this volunteer-ship I realized the amount of effort that is being put into for bringing that innocent Mpeg on the faces of underprivileged children and indeed felt pride of myself being a part. Arranging appointments, conducting events and dealing with a plethora of individuals and corporates , the organization provided me a platform of not only immense learning but also contributing towards the society and fulfilling the responsibility which each individual should. It was an enriching experience and I am grateful to MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP and the department I worked in for giving me this opportunity.”

“My internship with MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP has been an extremely enriching experiencing. I worked as an intern under the programme department for Mission Education for a month. I gained an immensely satisfying experience, be it regarding the documentation, following-up with the partners over programmatic requirements or preparation of project reports. I was highly privileged to have visited a Mission Education centre in Satyaniketan on the very first day of my internship, where the children were preparing for an event and I helped supervise their preparations. All the employees have been very encouraging and supportive throughout the course of my internship. They taught me about the ME programme and how it educates and empowers the children of the weaker sections of society. It was a life-changing experience and will be of great help to me in my coming years.”

“Nobody can ever imagine that a place like this could have a school with such enthusiastic kids. I have never been to such a place in India before. This has been a great experience and it is very promising to see the kids study and learn with such joy.”
“My internship with MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP was immensely satisfying. I am currently pursuing masters in technology and have always been interested in technology and research. So, working with the weaker section of society was a new learning experience and felt very rewarding. India has grown leaps and bounds since its independence but where education is concerned, the gap between women and men is severe. I believe that with its “Swabhiman” programme for women and girl child development, MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP is helping fill this gap. Doing field work, performing group discussions with women and children in the identified communities, having face to face conversation with them and seeing their confidence has convinced me that Swabhiman is opening doors of opportunities for many women and girls.”

“Being a fresher, this was the first time I was exposed to a formal workplace, which, indeed, was an enthralling experience. After being cognizant of the kind of the work done by MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP in general, and STeP specifically, I felt contended and relieved that, in this modern capitalistic world, there still are some people, some organization which are working for the greater good of society, and helping marginalized group of people by playing a role of catalyzed to uplift them from the abysmal condition many of them find themselves in. The wide array of work done here at MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP surprised me. Since my stint with the organization was only for a small tenure of 3 weeks, or 15 working days to be specific, I was allotted a small fraction of work, which, I tried to complete with utmost sincerity and diligence. Some of the works which I was allotted include writing case studies or success stories of candidates who were trained at different STeP centers across India mentioning about their family background, about how they were trained and bagged jobs, and how STeP played a catalyzing role in bringing a positive change in their, and their family’s life. After going through the raw data about them, I felt desolate that there are so many people in our nation who are devoid of resources, who face harsh side of life, but at the same time motivated me that no matter how big the problems are, one, if he is motivated and confident, can cross those hurdles to emerge victorious in life. Some other work which were allotted to me include speaking to ROs of different STeP centers and coordinating with them to get the raw data transferred on updated excel based questionnaire which help STeP employees track the necessary information easily. Writing in brief about various programs conducted across India was also one of the few works that were assigned to me. Now, when my stint is about to get over, I, wholeheartedly, enjoyed the work that was assigned to me and tried my best to complete the work to the best of my abilities. There are a lot of positives that I would be carrying after this internship. The always exuberant and cheerful attitude of employees motivated me to strive better and brought a Mpeg on my face. The punctuality and diligence of people here enlightened me about work culture which I wasn’t exposed to hitherto. I shall keep these points in my mind whenever and wherever I am assigned work. In the end I would like to thank my mentors Ms. Vaishali and Mr. Tony Thomas who always encouraged me and taught me how to improve whenever I made any mistake in carrying out assigned work. I will always be grateful to MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP for having me as an Intern, and shall always remember people with whom I worked.”
“These children helped me realize that you just need your little dreams and the motivation to fulfill them for true happiness. I am proud of each one of them. I am proud of this moment with them, and a little proud about myself too.”
“Volunteering at MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP under Swabhiman, I understood that altering people’s lives is not a myth. The vision and concept of Swabhiman has had a great influence on me, improving my perspective on life. Change begins at home. ‘You educate a man, you educate an individual; you educate a woman, you educate the Nation’. Once you show them the right direction, women are willing to amend the entire community. During the capacity building sessions at Swabhiman, I grasped the significance of offering a child the choice of informed decision. After they realise what is right from wrong, they can guide their respective communities in the appropriate direction. Apart from reporting the daily proceedings, I had an excellent opportunity to observe how Swabhiman as a programme took initiative to transform itself by objective evaluation of their capabilities and future possibilities. My project responsibilities for the internship were to provide analysis of the sessions and preparing reports to be presented to the supporters of Swabhiman. I was also included in various events related to the organization. In addition, I helped to organize the training sessions on women’s issues attended by the volunteers, health educators and beneficiaries, which added yet another facet to my understanding of Swabhiman’s community relations. It has been a great way to learn more about the incredible work that MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP is doing every day. The environment that I worked in was dedicated and encouraging; I was treated as a friend and a colleague from the initial day and was wholeheartedly welcomed to the Swabhiman team..”
“As a part of my MBA course, I was required to work with an NGO, so that I get an exposure as to what and how things are done in a NGO. I choose to work for MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP. At MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP I was provided an opportunity to work with the Outreach team for Mpeg on Wheels program. During my stint at MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP, I was able to gain both theoretical and practical knowledge of what goes behind making Mpeg on wheels program a success. Initially, in order to sensitize on different kind of works done by the outreach team, I was given a task of proofreading a report that was to be submitted to the donor. This task helped me get an inside knowledge on the various activities carried on by the outreach team. After this I was asked to plan activities for a year time which included six health camps, fifteen IEC camps and fifteen special health camps. This task required me to understand the kind of programs that MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP could conduct. Further, it also required me to keep in mind the kind of people who would benefit with these programs. My responsibility was to come up with activities that would have an impact on maximum number of people in the target group. After this, I was asked to go to a Mpeg on Wheels camp to see how things are done at the ground level. I along with the Mpeg on Wheels team visited Sanjay Camp at Chanakyapuri. There I was able to gain practical knowledge as to what happens in a health camp. It was quite an eye opener for me seeing the health condition of the people living in that slum area. I got to know how SOW was making a huge impact on these people. It was surprising to see how some people are totally dependents on camps like these as they cannot afford to go to hospital. However, this program made me aware about how so many things can be done for the betterment of the society. During my internship, I also got an opportunity to work on Mpeg on Wheels Management Information System (SOW MIS). Mpeg on wheels is a PAN India program and has been trying to go online in order to manage the information and data. My responsibility was to go through the website and provide feedback to the developer about the changes and additions that were required to make the website more users friendly. Further, I was also asked to prepare a user guide for the program coordinators. I prepared a user guide with all the steps to be followed with the supporting pictures. This guide has been prepared in such a way that anyone can use the website easily with the help of the guide. Further I was also asked to feed data in the website. Data for vehicle, equipment for the different running projects has been entered in the website. This internship has taught me many things and helped me grow my personality. The things that I have learned here will of great help in my career ahead. I would like to take this opportunity to thank my mentors Mr. Ayaz and Mr. Prateek who kept me motivated and encouraged to learn more during my stay here. I will always be grateful to MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP and MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP family for having me as an intern here.”
“I have been working for MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP in between 13th October 2013 and 9th January 2015 for a period of 12 weeks. During this period I was engaged in the work of the Mpeg Twin e-Learning Programme (STeP), Outreach, Mpeg on Wheels (SoW) and shortly Swabhiman. I enjoyed my time with Mpeg. The work everybody does here cannot be honoured high enough. The people are all very helpful – especially when the language barrier stops me of continuing my work and the coherence among the team members is impressive. After a slow start of getting to know the workflow and the programmes, I asked to be more included into the work and in response got more responsibilities in the STeP team (individually renewing the Case Study management & working on centre proposals). The longer my experience with Mpeg the more trust was put into me on working on several tasks individually – mainly in the Outreach & SoW department – which I appreciate a lot. Besides the above mentioned tasks, I went on a field appraisal on a potential new centre in South Delhi and wrote due diligence documents to present prospective centres to the donor for STeP. My engagement for Outreach & SoW covered research on current health issues in the respective areas of intervention, writing, compiling and checking monthly, quarterly, annual and completion reports for different projects, wrote Case Studies and worked on the establishment of Performance Indicators for 2015 (SoW). For Swabhiman, I wrote and checked project completion report and wrote several case studies for the annual case study book published by Swabhiman department. Looking back on my time here, I am proud on my contribution and the trust and alongside this, the responsibilities I gained. I gained insight into the everyday work of managing, monitoring and evaluating the programmes as well as the interaction among employees within the head office in Delhi. It was very important to stay with Mpeg for a longer period (> 4 weeks) to efficiently use my gained knowledge and skills. More than ever, I am included into ongoing work because I understand the process, the way Mpeg is doing the work and which data/information I miss to complete given tasks in time. Thank you MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP for this great experience.”
“I’m Pooja Sanker a French student in Public Health. I’ve done a 2 month-long internship with MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP. I learnt so much about public health, medicine, management, and about the Indian lifestyle. I really enjoyed working with MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP’s team; they are very kind and nice people. I felt welcome and comfortable during my stay, I recommend anyone to work with this NGO as it will be a good and rich experience! Thank you so much, I hope to come back to work with you one day!”
“Innocent giggles with beaming eyes, is what I noticed when I entered the Mission Education centre (Anandadhara), home to 550 students in the district of Noapara.
They are children of minor farmers and daily wagers who have migrated from nearby regions in search of livelihood.
Doctor, Teacher, Pilot, Astronaut.., the list was endless when I asked them about their ambitions. With tiny and neat classrooms, it was great to see the children eating nutritious food during their recess. It’s enthralling to experience how they open up so soon, and make you a part of their family in almost no time. There were moments when you realize the love and respect you are getting here, is like you can find nowhere else.”
“Nobody can ever imagine that a place like this could have a school with such enthusiastic kids. I have never been to such a place in India before. This has been a great experience and it is very promising to see the kids study and learn with such joy.”
“I congratulate MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP on the excellent work they have been doing all these years and for bringing a positive change in the society. I feel proud and privileged to be associated with MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP. All the best!”
“I am just 27, but have gone through many hurdles in life. I have realised that education teaches you first and then puts you to examination; life puts you to examination first and teaches you later. The only solution to all social and national problems we get to know from media everyday is nothing but basic and primary education. Though my contribution to MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP is small but I feel this is the roadmap to my dream and goal of helping all children get an education.”
“I believe that education, not just literacy, is the tool for cleansing all social evils and suffering from India. With the power of education, we can eradicate poverty, health issues, negative behaviour, or anything for that matter. When I first heard about MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP, I believed in the approach it is taking. Now I have been supporting it through financial as well as technical support. I have one suggestion for all individuals who believe in charity and some good organisation or other – do not waste anything in your home or office. For example, you can even collect and sell old newspapers and support a cause you believe in.”
“In this world no child is born imperfect. Every life is a blessing and a hope for mankind. Education is the primary catalyst which transforms ignorance to hope. I have been highly impressed by the two most important issues that MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP speaks of in its effort to spread the light of education amongst the children of the underprivileged population in the country. It speaks of education as a tool to generate productive assets and also of partnership. I thought MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP India was the perfect organization to donate to because I strongly believe that every child deserves a chance, and every chance starts with good education and healthcare. I believe more and more responsible individuals take up such great initiatives.- Subir Arya “

“I’m Pooja Mishra a French student in Public Health. “During one month of my internship with MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP, Delhi. I was inspired by the organization efforts and its success. I was especially impressed by the impulse compassion of the staff members and their dedication to create a social change. With the limited resources they are helping the masses. Benefitting over 3, 00,000 children and their families. Today, 8 million children in India are out of school and are surrounded by illness, poverty and despair; they are fighting a daily battle for their survival. MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP is not only helping the children in coming out of poverty and illness but through its Mission Education program it is providing the FUNDAMENTAL RIGHT- RIGHT TO EDUCATION to the underprivileged children. During my internship, I gain insights of the lives of underprivileged children, their families and communities. In 2002 MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP was set up to work with grassroots initiatives for effecting positive changes in the lives of underprivileged children. My project responsibility of the internship was mainly concerned with the report making for the donors. Throughout my internship I helped in colligating various reports, making snapshots of the reports. However, the significance of the Mission Education and the organization successes were most evident to me when I had the opportunity to interact with the underprivileged children. These various interactions helped me to gain insight into the tragic challenges that are faced by our society. To be associated with MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP as a volunteer was akin to returning a favor to society in a positive manner. The complete experience was stimulating and enriching. The initiative by MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP is just a milestone there is a long way to go. Together we can bring change and make it last.”
“My internship with MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP has been an enriching and wonderful experience. It was great to work for a month in the IT Department of the organization and it has certainly enhanced my knowledge not only in my field of work but also a broader perspective of the noble work that the organization does for the underprivileged sections of the society. It was immensely satisfying for me to work and develop software programs and web pages for the organization and as an engineering student to intern here was a great development for my personal growth. It was my pleasure to contribute whatever little I could do for this noble deed. The ambience at MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP was very friendly and the people here were very helpful and cooperative. I truly felt being a part of the Mpeg family and I thank Mpeg for the wonderful opportunity it provided me.”
“Interning at MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCTAION GROUP has been an enriching experience for me. I was genuinely impressedby the organizational structure of MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP which is a perfect combination of an NGO working in a corporate way.The dedication and commitment of people working here towards the visions and missions of this foundation is overwhelmingly amazing. This entire journey has been extremely enlightening and enjoyable for me”

Doing field work, performing group discussions with women and children in the identified communities, having face to face conversation with them and seeing their confidence has convinced me that Swabhiman is opening doors of opportunities for many women and girls. “
“I had a great privilege to work with the MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP Twin e-Learning Program (STeP) of MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP as an intern. Prashant who were instrumental in molding me during the internship at MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP.It was a joy to work with them and they inspired me to do my best at work.”
“My internship with MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP had been a delightful learning experience. I am currently Pursuing Psychology Honors and being with the IP department of MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP and getting to interact with the heads of renowned corporates directly and indirectly had been an enriching opportunity. The reason behind perusing this internship was to try and give back something to the society that it has given me, and working for the education of underprivileged children seemed like the best thing to do. But after Joining MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP and knowing in detail about its grass root processing and all that it did to transform lives of helpless people, I realized it’s so much more. I would like to thank MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP for giving me this opportunity. It was an experience that I’ll cherish forever.”
“My experience with MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP was extremely serviceable and estimable. I worked in the Individual Partnership Department of MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP. During my volunteer-ship I gained so much of experience and knowledge about how difficult it is to put Mpeg on those underprivileged children and help them in their education. I was pleased to work in such a friendly environment where every individual work so hard to achieve their ultimate goal of bringing Mpeg on innocent faces of those underprivileged kids . I was assigned the responsibility of providing managerial assistance to take appointments , conduct events in illustrious and lauded individuals and corporate . Currently I am pursuing as a student of philosophy honors’ from Miranda house , Delhi University . For me it was an overwhelming experience and I feel grateful to my department for giving me this opportunity of working with them .”
Suresh Pandey who always encouraged me and taught me how to improve whenever I made any mistake in carrying out assigned work. I will always be grateful to MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP for having me as an Intern, and shall always remember people with whom I worked.”
“My Journey with MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP has been a knowledgeable experience. I got the opportunity to join the IP Department. I learnt lot of things which includes formal communication with corporates, the whole procedure from the first call till how an event takes place. My experience with the team seniors Miss.madhu singh has been good. I was given the responsibility to make calls and converse with the corporate heads and HR’s. During this tenure I realized the amount of effort that is being put into for bringing that innocent MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP on the faces of underprivileged children and indeed felt pride of myself being a part. The organization provided me a platform of not only immense learning but also contributing towards the society and fulfilling the responsibility which each individual should. Working for MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP helped me use the knowledge I’ve acquired over the past one month as a college student as well as the skills I’ve developed.”
The environment that I worked in was dedicated and encouraging; I was treated as a friend and a colleague from the initial day and was wholeheartedly welcomed to the Swabhiman team.”
“As a part of my MBA course, I was required to work with an NGO, so that I get an exposure as to what and how things are done in a NGO. I choose to work for MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP. At MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP I was provided an opportunity to work with the Outreach team for MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP on Wheels program. During my stint at MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP, I was able to gain both theoretical and practical knowledge of what goes behind making MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP on wheels program a success. After this, I was asked to go to a MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP on Wheels camp to see how things are done at the ground level. During my internship, I also got an opportunity to work on MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP on Wheels Management Information System (SOW MIS). MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP on wheels is a PAN India program and has been trying to go online in order to manage the information and data.
During this period I was engaged in the work of the MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP Twin e-Learning Programme (STeP), Outreach, MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP on Wheels (SoW) and shortly Swabhiman. I enjoyed my time with MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP. The longer my experience with MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP the more trust was put into me on working on several tasks individually – mainly in the Outreach & SoW department – which I appreciate a lot. It was very important to stay with I have been working for MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP in between 13th October 2013 and 9th January 2015 for a period of 12 weeks.
They are children of minor farmers and daily wagers who have migrated from nearby regions in search of livelihood”
“Doctor, Teacher, Pilot, Astronaut..”, the list was endless when I asked them about their ambitions. With tiny and neat classrooms, it was great to see the children eating nutritious food during their recess.”
“These children offered me to celebrate Diwali with them. This is my best Diwali so far. I m going to cherish each moment, every smile, every day. Thank you my new bunch of best friends.”
“These children helped me realize that you just need your little dreams and the motivation to fulfill them for true happiness. I am proud of each one of them. I am proud of this moment with them, and a little proud about myself too.”
I want to improve the conditions that my parents live in. I am working towards it.
Last year, Divya was awarded with a merit-based scholarship under MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP Swabhiman programme to help her complete her schooling and higher studies. She belongs to a family who work hard yet struggle to make ends meet. Divya’s mother Kiran works as a maid washing dishes, cleaning and mopping 5-6 houses every day. In the evening she packs plastic balls meant to be played with by little children and sells them at traffic signals.
Even though she is illiterate herself, Kiran ensured that her three daughters went to school. It is a fruit of her efforts that her eldest daughter Divya has always been a class topper. Whether it is the burning sun, heavy rains or biting cold, both parents never take a single day off just so that their daughters can have an easier life and do not have to struggle daily like them.
I was sick for the longest time and had lost all hope of giving birth
Due to her husband’s repeated demands and the constant pressures from her family for a child, Deepshika had conceived four timers in two years but was unable to give birth due to her failing health. The family did not seek any good medical help and she kept on suffering. Deepshika had lost all hope when volunteers from Swabhiman came to know of her condition.
They immediately sought medical advice for her and repeatedly counseled her husband, making him realize his responsibility towards her well being. Deepshika began paying attention to herself, taking a healthy diet, and in no time started blossoming again, with her husband by her side.
She is six months pregnant now and ready to experience a happy motherhood.
Presently, Radhika is aiming to get admission to a reputed college in Delhi University and study child psychology. She regularly visits the Mission Education centre where her journey started and spends a lot of time with the younger children there – helping them, playing with them, teaching them.
My father does not understand English but he loves to hear me use it.
A temporary driver struggling for the survival of his family of six, Radhika’s father never thought of enrolling her in school. But only one meeting with Mission Education project coordinators was enough to convince him that education could be his daughter’s way out from the life of poverty and drudgery.
Radhika studied at the Mission Education centre for 10 years and because of her hard work and diligence was successfully mainstreamed to a prestigious private school in Delhi. She was also awarded a scholarship under MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP Swabhiman programme to complete her education free of cost.

My mother wants me to have a job. She always wanted to work but she never could. I am going to make her proud.
15-year-old Pooja is probably not the only girl who wants to fulfill her mother’s dreams. Her mother Mussarat has always been encouraging her to focus on education. She could never work because she had to be busy with household chores before and after marriage. She has till date never sought any help in household chores from her daughter.
As a result, Pooja performed outstandingly. She has excelled ion studies and is equally good in co-curricular and got scholarship under Swabhiman programme. She wants to become a teacher when she grows up and encourage other under privileged girls like her to chase their dreams.
“I’’ll take my mother on a vacation after I get a job. She has never been on one.”
Aastha’s mother does labour work at construction sites with her husband. She works just as hard, but gets paid only half of what her husband earns. It was with these meager wages that she started sending her daughter to school, even though her husband was completely against the idea.
From the very beginning, Aastha made her mother proud as she excelled in school, always coming first in class. When she secured 84% in her class 12th exams, even her father could not hide his happiness. At present, Aastha is studying Hindi Literature at Delhi University, and hopes to become a professor soon. Aastha received a scholarship under the Swabhiman programme which is a result of her hard work and she is one of the 92 exceptionally talented girls who are getting scholarship under MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP Swabhiman programme.
Aastha wants to take her mother on a vacation when she gets a job because without her support she could not have grown up as a strong individual like she is now.
I don’t feel I am any less than others and the Swabhiman scholarship has not only empowered me but has also given me more courage.
Convinced by a team of volunteers from Swabhiman programme to send her to a school Riddhi’s parents are now extremely proud of their daughter’s achievements. Her physical constrains have never deterred her from performing outstandingly well in academics. Hailing from a family of seven members, her parents never wanted to invest in educating her because of the financial difficulties at home, but her strong determination and the support of the Swabhiman scholarship changed the entire story. She says that History is her favorite subject and she wants to become a teacher of the subject when she finishes her studies.
I was made aware that taking care of my three children was more important than conceiving repeatedly. I am glad I was made aware.
Monali, is a 26 year old resident of Mahatma Gandhi Camp. She has 3 children, two boys aged 8 and 7 years and a girl aged 3 year. A few months ago she was totally unaware about the importance of family planning, child spacing and immunization. Monali was approached by one of the CHEs from Swabhiman. After continuous counseling and follow ups for over 4 months, Shahin understood the significance of family planning, child spacing and immunization. The guidance by CHE about the whole process of permanent contraception for women i.e., tubectomy eventually convinced Monali to opt for the same. She recently got tubectomy done and is happy that she could take necessary precautions and proper care of her health.
I will work as hard as my parents do now so that they can rest when I get a job.
Aaradhna’s mother is her greatest pillar of support. When her father lost his job four years ago Aaradhna’s mother started to work as a maid. She began to support the entire family and also supported Aaradhna’s education, not even allowing her do the household work.
As a result Aaradhna began to excel in her studies and was awarded the Swabhiman scholarship. She is one of the 92 exceptionally talented girls who were awarded scholarship last year to complete their higher education under MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP’s Swabhiman programme. Uma dreams of completing her studies and securing a good job so that she can support her parents and make them happier.
She has truly been a mother to me, and also a guardian for my child. When he was born healthy and fit, didi too had tears in her eyes.
Both Garima and her husband are uneducated and neither are they aware about the need of healthy and nutritious food for an expecting mother. A few months after Garima conceived she became pale and sick. Her husband could not take proper care of her as he was a daily wage earner, losing a day’s wage meant no food for them.
Garima’s condition improved when Aruna has been working as a health volunteer under MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP’s Swabhiman programme came to her rescue. She counselled both Garima and her husband regularly and made them aware of how nutritious food could be eaten even if they had less money. Garima, under Aruna’s strict supervision gave birth to a healthy baby boy recently.
The scholarship is a hope for me & my family because this is the only support by which I can complete my studies.
Ketaki’s father irons clothes for a living. With his small earning he can only manage to provide the minimum requirement for living and hence it was not possible for him to support Ketaki’s higher education. But it was because of the scholarship provided under Swabhiman programme that Ketaki is finally able to realise her dream of pursuing her higher studies. As Ketaki states, “The scholarship is a hope for me & my family because this is the only support by which I can complete my studies.”
Swabhiman scholarship has enabled Ketaki and her mother to dream big like 81 other young, spirited and extremely talented girls from slum clusters around Delhi have been awarded merit-based scholarship to complete their schooling and higher studies under MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP’s Swabhiman programme.
I want to improve the conditions that my parents live in. I am working towards it.
Last year, Kajal was awarded with a merit-based scholarship under MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP Swabhiman programme to help her complete her schooling and higher studies. She belongs to a family who work hard yet struggle to make ends meet. Kajal’s mother Kiran works as a maid washing dishes, cleaning and mopping 5-6 houses every day. Whether it is the burning sun, heavy rains or biting cold, both parents never take a single day off just so that their daughters can have an easier life and do not have to struggle daily like them.
I am going to fulfil my mother’s dreams and support her like she supported me.
Supriya’s mother has been her strongest pillar in her journey. Her father did not support her getting an education past eighth standard. Her mother convinced her father to allow her to go for higher studies. Born and bought up in a slum in Delhi sending a girl to school was not exactly a piece of cake but Supriya and her mother were ready to face the hurdles together.
From being a little child dreaming of going to school to becoming a strong and courageous girl Supriya has come a long way struggling to be successful. MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP Swabhiman scholarship allowed Supriya to be more fearless towards financial issues hampering her studies. Supriya is currently studying in Class 10 and aspires to study more to fulfil all her mother’s dreams. Her parents are very proud of her and encourage her more every day.
The only hope of his ailing parents Maneesh had no option but to drop out from school because his sick father could not afford it anymore. His hopes were crushed but what could he do than take care of his parents.
Maneesh was the only son of his ailing parents and after his father’s savings got over the family had to struggle a lot to make both ends meet. Eventually Maneesh had to drop out of school and search for a job. But soon he realized that taking up a job was not very easy, first of all people now-a –days demanded a lot of skills that Maneesh did not possess. Things were getting difficult for him until he heard about MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP Twin e- Learning Program. Maneesh immediately enrolled himself and began to learn computer skills, spoken English, basic Marketing and soft skills and passed the course completion test with flying colors after 6 months. He now works as a computer operator at a printing press where he is well paid and respected. He is now able to bring home a decent salary but also smile and hope to his parents.
I had only completed my class 12th and never had any exposure in the field of jobs and interviews. I got rejected several times but I kept on trying as I wanted to help my family.” –Maya Singh
Maya Singh is a hard working and courageous girl who wanted to get a job so that the burden on her parents could be lessened. Her father worked as cloth cutter at a tailor’s and her mother joins her father whenever she can spare time. Both parents made sure that Maya Singh and her younger brother and sister went to school instead of working like other children of the community. After completing her 12th standard examination she wanted to work but got rejected at all the interviews as she lacked soft and language skills. Still she was encouraged by her parents and then she joined Smile Twin e- Learning Program JSS at Dharavi, Mumbai. The course at the program covered English Communication, Retail Management, Basic Management, Computer Proficiency and Personality development. At the end of six months she cleared the course completion test and had more work options now as she could choose between places to work as she had cleared interviews at 2-3 places. Currently she holds a good job and earns enough to support her family comfortably. Both her parents are proud of her and she is also happy as she is now able to fulfill the dreams of her parents.
Our daughter is our strength and hope. She is the youngest in the family, but she motivates everyone”- Shashi’s mother. She can say this because Shashi has emerged a fighter in the midst of a lot of problems. Her mother is proud of her and so are her other family members.
Shashi had to drop out of school because her poor father was unable to repay a debt he had taken at the time of his eldest daughter’s marriage. Shashi had just completed her standard 10th examination and her father could not support her education with an income of just rupees 3000. Shashi was a bright student but she also understood her father’s problems. Even though she had to discontinue her schooling Shashi found a way out to do something and enrolled herself in the STeP program at the nearest centre and got herself trained in soft skills and English communication, personality development etc. within six months Shashi was ready to take up jobs and she got placed as a private tutor in a coaching institute. She now earns rupees 10,000 per month and is also keen on completing her studies through open learning. Shashi’s hard work inspires many including her brother who also has joined the STeP program after completing his Class 12th exams.

Opportunities should be equal and just for all, be it a girl child or a boy. Rupali’s parents proved it right by giving her chance to give her a shot to have a career, be independent and self sufficient.
Rupali lives with her parents and siblings in an overcrowded slum in Mumbai. Her father is the only bread earner in the family and it sometimes became difficult for him to make both ends meet. As a result of financial crisis Rupali could not continue her studies beyond high school. She wanted to work to help her father but her parents refused to let her go out and work. Her parents’ refusal saddened her and she had no other option then agree with them. She began helping her mother with the household chores.
But opportunities always find those who want to do something in their lives. Opportunity knocked once again and this time it was in the form of MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP Twin e-Learning Program, an initiative of MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP to improve the employability skills of the youth who have either dropped out of school or lack skills required to get employed. Rupali convinced her parents to visit the nearest STeP centre Prayog in Kamathipura. The trainers explained to her parents about the course and it’s benefits and the employment opportunities she would get upon completion of the course. Rupali’s parents decided to give their daughter a chance and she enrolled to the course. During the course Rupali developed her communication skills as well as other skills such as proficiency in spoken English, management skills and personality development. Upon completion of the course she emerged a strong, confident woman ready to handle any kind of job.
Rupali got selected at the very first interview she appeared for Axis Bank and now works as Business Executive drawing a decent salary. Rupali’s parents are very proud of her and she has also set an example for other girls to venture out and explore the possibilities and looking at the confidence of Rupali’s parents other parents are also slowly opening up to the prospect of sending their daughters to the STeP centre and get ready to be strong and independent.
We did not get the best of things in our childhood, neither my mom. She sacrificed a lot. Even today she does. It’s time now I start paying back.
His dream is to take his mother to Hajj and gift his mother a house of her own. This is now not a distant dream for Puneet who recently got employed at the Burger King and is now earning to support his family. Born into a family of 9, which included his 3 brothers and 3 sisters, Puneet did not always get the best of things because the sole support of the family his father passed away when he was just 12. But his determined mother did not let Puneet earn and made him study. Puneet joined the STeP course provided by MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP and built his personality and technical skills the result of which made him confident. Puneet is on the way to fulfil his dreams and his mother’s dream soon.
The stories of struggle start almost the same way but not all stories end the same way. Radha’s is a story different from most stories of struggle.
Radha was in the 10th standard when her mother expired, her father re-married and she had to drop out of school. All of these events happened in such quick succession that Radha could not even think how from a school going kid she suddenly became the one to manage the household and all its chores. But the zeal to study remained; she kept her books opened next to her when she was cooking so that she could complete her studies.
During a door to door mobilization drive conducted by STeP, Radha came across the program and its benefits. She immediately enrolled in the course and began to attend the lectures regularly and in six months time she was trained in computer and management skills, language and other soft skills. Almost immediately she also got placed in a retail store with a starting salary of Rs 5500. Her father is proud of her that she earns more than him and is also getting her younger siblings educated on her own. Both Radha and her siblings have a bright future before them which will be a result of all the hard work they are putting now.
“I have bought new clothes for my father, I hope he likes them.”
Suresh’s father wore and re-wore the same two sets of clothes for years. The colours faded and stains from the auto rickshaw he drove for a living took their place. But his resolve to educate Suresh did not fade away. Suresh who had seen his father struggle round the year to feed the family did not study beyond the 12th standard and began looking for a job. But his lack of professional skills and proved to be a major hurdle in his pursuits.
When Suresh accidentally came across MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP STeP programme he immediately enrolled for the course. Gradually his communication skills and computer skills improved and so did his confidence. His personality also developed and after the completion of his course he landed a job at the reputed multinational pharmaceutical company Dr. Reddy’s Lab.
Suresh can now help his father support the family. He hopes to work harder and take care of all the needs of his family.
His mother’s smile makes his day and Sandeep is working hard to keep it that way.
Living in a slum at Shamirpet in Secundrabad, Telenganaq Sandeep’s father who works as a helper at a truck garage could barely make both ends meet. With five members in the family it was very hard to mange. Sandeep wanted to pursue higher studies after completing his schooling but the financial conditions of his family did not allow him to do so. Sandeep began to search for jobs everywhere since now he had to contribute to the income of the family. But lack of skills required now-a-days to handle a job left him jobless and dejected.
Ranjith’s case came to light during a community survey and he was enrolled for MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP’s Smile Twin e-Learning Program at Arnunodaya Trust Centre in Secunderabad. The employability training provided at the centre helped him to enhance his communication, technical, marketing skills and he also regained his lost confidence. Sandeep acquired a job in the local news paper after his training and is very happy to be able to make a valuable contribution to his family’s financial well being.

Today, I got my first job. Although I have many things on my mind, but I will be getting new clothes for every one with my first salary
Ajay grew up in a family which struggled to make both ends meet every day. His father worked as a daily wage earner and it was a family of six he had to support; Ajay, his mother, a brother who was deaf since birth, another brother who lost his right leg in an accident and a sister who was of marriageable age. Even though Ajay had dreams of acquiring a degree which would help him get a job, financial conditions back home acted as a hurdle.
Ajay joined STeP with high hopes and soon enough he was equipped with a better personality, good communication skills and technical knowledge. He was hired by Café Coffee Day after the completion of his course. He now supports the family along with his father and aspires to do more to help his family.
Shakuntla and her granddaughter Shakuntla are happy and healthy now. Thanks to MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP and their timely check-ups.
I have passed seventy years of my age without any wish, but now I have one – to be alive for some more years to continue fighting for my granddaughter, Shakuntla’s happiness. All I have today in my world is her. To me, she is nothing less than a beautiful and lovely doll bringing a lot of happiness in my life. Shakuntla’s parents are no more. Although her childhood isn’t about balloons or toys, it isn’t about suffering either. There were days when I stayed hungry, but never kept Shakuntla empty stomach. I never let her stay off my eyes. That’s why I bring her with me to my workplace where I get daily wages because if I leave her at home there will be no one to look after her.
Shakuntla health is being taken care of by the Smile on wheels mobile hospital clinic. Timely check-ups, counseling on proper diets and awareness about curable diseases helps Shakuntla be healthy.
Phook Kumari lives with her two sons in Mithaj village, Madhepura, Bihar. Her husband migrated to Kerala in search of work six years ago and sends whatever little he earns home every month.
Phool Kumari works as a daily wager in nearby fields. After some time Phool Kumari started suffering from severe pain in her breast. At first she ignored it. Going to the hospital would cost money and loss of a day’s wages.
The temporary relief provided by pain killers helped her carry on, but her ailment became worse, inching towards a point of no return. MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP began operations in her village in this hour of dire need. The doctor’s checkup revealed a lump in her breast and medication was immediately prescribed.
In three months the lump disappeared and so did the pain. Unwilling to take any chances, the SoW team referred Phook Kumari to the Government hospital to check for malignancy which thankfully came negative.
“We lost all our hard earned money in fighting Dengue last year. Three of my family members – my husband, daughter-in-law and grandson”
The three members Chandralekha lost to dengue was due to the filth that surrounded them in the resettlement area they live. With a limited income that makes it difficult to arrange for a two-square meal, there was no one whom the family could ask for money to get treated.
Hope came in the form of the MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP who upon knowing the plight of Chandralekha visited them the same day. Their doctors not only cured the family members but also provided with all the blood tests and medicines for free. Their volunteers shared some simple tips with the community as well to get rid of the filth so that they could stay away from such diseases.
Seeta Devi’s daughter was the joy of her life but she was weak and malnourished, her survival became a struggle, until MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP came to her rescue.
After years of praying, I became a mother. My happiness was unlimited. She was tiny, pretty, and vulnerable. But my happiness turned into pain when the nurses said she was severely underweight and malnourished; and might not survive longer. I kept looking at my child as she kept crying. I started crying with her until about 12 hours later when I saw her MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP for the first time. She had dimples. That’s when my heart melted. That’s when I promised myself that I would never give up on her.
was assisted by the workers from MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP mobile hospital to take care of Seeta Devi, they assisted Namita in eating healthy to prevent the breast feeding baby from growing up under nourished etc. Seeta Devi is now growing up to become a healthy child.
Recently, I have been asked to earn for myself as nobody among my children could afford to feed me two times a day
Phoolmati sells papad on the roadside. She earns 100-150 per day which is sufficient for her to feed herself and sometimes buy sweets for her grandchildren. Phoolmati’s wrinkled face and toothless MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP does not give away her pain that she has to go through every day; her children refused to support her anymore and asked her to earn and live on her own. She also faces health issues related to old age.
When the MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP volunteer came to know about Phoolmati she immediately visited her and told her about the regular visits of the MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP mobile hospital and the services provided. Phoolmati was overjoyed because now she could avail healthcare at her door step and avoid losing a day’s earning.
Phoolmati’s health care is now being taken care of by team Smile ion Wheels along with many like her.
I raised my son alone. 12 years ago, Ravi got married and his wife did not want to live with me. They left me alone and went to the city.
Kamla faced a lot of hardships while raising her son alone after the death of her husband but she worked on daily wage and in the fields and did not let her son face any hardships. Her son grew up and got married and migrated to the city in search for a better livelihood. They left Kamla alone and when she fell sick she had no one to look after her and the doctor was miles away.
When the MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP started services in the area Kamla found much needed relief. She was visited by the doctors at home and necessary medicines were prescribed. The community volunteers keep a check on her health regularly and the regular visit of the MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP mobile hospital has ensured that Kamla remains healthy. She still misses her son but is now healthy and happy.
Forty-five years old Gokul from Shinad village in Patan district, Gujarat, has been living with polio since birth. Because of his disability, he is completely dependent on his parents.
Gokul’s aging father, a small-time farmer, is the sole provider of the family. Life is not easy when one has to deal with both disability and poverty. A minor ailment seems like a big battle. The nearest government hospital is a journey across seven seas, literally.
MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP came as a hope at the doorstep of people like Gokul, when it was introduced in 20 villages in Patan, with support from Cairn India.
Gokul had been going through severe chest pain for quite some time, when MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP came to his aid. After the diagnosis, treatment began immediately and follow-ups were conducted twice a week.
After two months, Gokul is now as full of life as he has been known for.
As if he has conquered immobility, Gokul now mobilizes villagers and brings them to MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP every week when the mobile hospital pays the routine visit to his village.
“I am recovering slowly, thanks to the doctor who cured me.”
When asthma and skin problem worsened, 65 year old Govardhan had to discontinue his work in the nearby farms as a daily wager. Govardhan was bound to stay at home, causing his wife to work in the fields to fulfill the basic household needs.
Due to lack of access to medical facilities in the village, the residents had to travel around 12 km to reach the nearest Community Health Centre (CHC) in Chanderi when they suffered health problems. People like Govardhan avoided this, because they could not afford to lose a day’s wage.
Govardhan’s problems were identified by Dr. R K Sharma, who heads the project team of MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP clinic in Ashok Nagar. Under his prescription, effective tablets and ointments were provided to him, and after 15 days Govardhan’s health started improving. Govardhan has now recommenced his work in the farms. He continues to take his medicines for asthma and also takes part in mobilising other villagers in seeking healthcare from the MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP.

Our children always complained that we did not do enough for them and then they left us in our old age.
Shivpati and his wife have five daughters. They raised them with equal love and never did they regret not having a son. His children grew up, got married and moved to different places. They began blaming their parents for not providing enough for them and slowly over time stopped coming to see them altogether. Both Shivpati and his wife began to suffer from old age related problems and even when their mother was on her death bed none of the children came.
Shivpati’s health too started to suffer after the demise of his wife and with no one to care for him he became weaker. It was during one of the community counseling sessions that Shivpati came to know about MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP on Wheels clinic and began to attend it regularly. His health has improved and he also talks to the volunteers and jokes around with them. He tries to keep happy and healthy like the doctor asked him to.
When I took him to the doctor his scalp looked scary, now he has recovered and is so happy.
When Rita and Sandeep had Ram narayan six months back the condition of their family was bad. Ram Narayan’s elder sister was down with a bout of viral fever. Being daily wage earners it became very difficult for them to bear so much expenses. Even though Ram Narayan was born in a government hospital, his parents took him back home against the advice of the doctors because his sister also had to be looked after.
Soon after the baby’s scalp started to turn red and flakes began to appear on his scalp. Initially the mother did not notice but when the flakes turned heavy she began to go to a local doctor to cure her baby but he could not do much. After hearing about the Smile on Wheels, Rita took her baby to the clinic where he was prescribed an ointment. Ram Narayan began to recover in no time and his parents are overjoyed that he is growing up healthy and happy.
We are old and poor. Our health is failing. We only find relief in each other.
82 year old Rita devi lives with her husband in a tin shanty in the middle of a congested and unhygienic Chennai slum. When their children refused to take care of them they had no option but to suffer silently. There was no one who could provide them warmth. Her husband is slowly losing his eye sight and both husband and wife are suffering from many other health problems due to their age. The families in slums like these do not have time to care for diseases or even if they do they do not have a choice because they have to earn their daily bread and look after their families. Most people in these slums suffer in silence, often losing their lives to curable diseases.
It was through her friends that Mission Education Program of MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP came to know about Purnima and her brothers. She currently studies in class 6, her brother Shubh is in class 3 and another of her brother Som will come to class 1. Very soon their hard work and dreams are going to bear fruit and they are going to be successful.

A 10 year old jovial and ambitious Dimple was made to drop out of school by her parents. But this young girl fought to achieve what was rightfully hers.
Dimple’s mother keeps very unwell, leaving her husband alone to win bread for the family. Dimple’s father works in a medical shop, earning only Rs 3500/- per month. More than half of the amount is drained out in the medical treatment of Dimple’s mother. And with what remains month’s proceedings become difficult, leaving the family in hand to mouth condition. In this situation educational expenditure of two children was a burden.
Dimple was made to stop going to school immediately after she successfully passed the 2nd grade. Her parents took educating the son as priority. And Dimple was asked to do the household chores to support her ailing mother. Hurt with this Dimple tried reasoning with her father. But Dimple’s wish was not considered.
But Dimple did not give up. She picked up books from her friends. Along with carrying out domestic work Dimple started studying at home.
Her determination was spotted by MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP. They counseled her parents on the importance of education for girl child also. The councilors advised her parents to enroll Dimple in the Mission Education centre run by Lepakshi Educational Society in the area which they did.
Dimple is in 5th standard now. She regularly attends her classes in centre and even helps her mother in the household chores. Dimple and her parents are grateful to MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUPfor the opportunity that was given to her.
She want to work hard and become teachers and help other children like us read and write.

Encouraged by the teachers of the Mission Education program the parents started to send the children to the centre. She is willingly attend all the classes and the parents also do not miss any of the parent-teacher meetings and are keeping a close track of their children’s academics. Like Urvi 250 other students are also receiving quality education in the same centre.
After his mother’s death Harish began to take care of his family of two brothers and father. Cooking, cleaning, washing; he did everything. Even though he wanted to study he could not because he had to be the caretaker at home.
Harish was in class 7 when his mother expired. He had to dropm out of school to take care of his younger brothers. His father is a daily wage earner who works in the farms of Hathi Basti in the Yamuna Lines. Harish’s day would start early as he had to do all the household chores.
Harish was identified during a community mobilization drive by Mission Education program of MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP. His father was counseled and he was enrolled in the Mission Education centre Samarpan along with both of his brothers. Harish does not have to cook food everyday now as the centre provides breakfast and lunch to them and so that Harish can go home and study the centre also packs dinner for his family and sends it with him. Now studying in class 7, Harish is a promising kid. He works hard and is determined to become a Police Officer someday.
His early job was picking up rags and doing odd jobs. Earning two square meals a day was his only goal. His parents had big dreams for him, but poverty stopped them from dreaming any bigger.
Govind is 12 years old and lives in Hafijnagar, Bamunimaidan in Guwahati, Assam. His father is a daily wage earner. Govind spent most of his childhood in picking up rags to help his father in making both ends meet. Govind was a bright child from the beginning. His parents wanted to educate him but their situation was such that they could only dream.
The opening of a Mission Education centre in their area was a relief for them. Govind was one of the first to enroll in the centre. Govind’s progress is remarkable as he is a hardworking and a bright student. His parents, teachers and his neighbors are proud of him.
I study in a school and I like being here a lot
These words bring so much encouragement for a society such as ours where school dropouts and illiteracy have increased more than ever. Rajesh studies in class 3 in the MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP’s Mission Education centre in Gurgaon. Her father abandoned her mother, her and his son two years ago and to earn to eat she was sent to work as a domestic help in a house while her mother worked in a factory.
Upon much convincing by the teachers of the Mission Education program her brother was sent to school but not her. It took another round of counseling g for her mother to finally agree to send Rajesh to school. She now attends school every day and enjoys learning and playing in school.
There were days when we could not eat at all. We used to struggle every day.
Girish’s father passed away when he was very young. After his father’s demise everyday was a struggle for them and as a result they moved to Hyderabad city. Even moving to the city did not help much. When Girish’s mother brought him to MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP’s Mission Education centre, Karuna he was malnourished, anemic and weak. He hardly ever talked to anybody and hardly paid any attention in class.
The teachers did not lose hope and continuously supported him and encouraged him. He has improved a lot now both health wise and in his education. His mother is very happy to see all the positive changes in him.
I will learn dance and perform in the Annual Function this time. Mother will be so happy to see me.” This is 6 year old Manvi’s New Year Resolution
With her father working as a fruit seller and mother as a maid and a family which comprised of Umesh’s grandparents and his aunt they never had enough to eat, let alone think about educating Umesh or sending her to school. A surprise visit by the teachers of MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP’s Mission Education centre in Noida bought about a huge change in Umesh’s life. The girl who once had no knowledge about alphabets or numbers now can read, write and recite poems in Hindi and English and studies in class 2 in the Mission Education centre, Noida. He is a quick learner and her parents too have shown enthusiasm by attending parent-teacher meetings regularly..
Mother is happy and says if I study well and get a good job, she will not have to work.
So eager is this little boy to ease the burden of her mother that he has already promised to work very hard and he does so too. he goes to school every day and finishes all her work in time.
Earlier Amber used to work with her mother doing household chores for other people for a little amount of money. He did not even have time to play. An intervention by MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP’s Mission Education program changed her life completely. He now studies in class 3 of Mission Education’s centre in Noida. He is a bright student and her favorite subject is drawing. Both his mother and he are happy that he is going to school and enjoying it there.
Both my brothers and I go to school together now and also have our meals together now. I have my own happy stories now.
Earlier Satyam, his two brothers Som and Shubh and his grandparents, who these three children stay with, lead a life of despair and poverty. Her mother and father worked in Delhi and used to send some money every month. She usually used to take care of the household chores and her brothers. Seeing all her friends go to school and talk about it she also longed to go to school someday.
It was through her friends that Mission Education Program of MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP came to know about Satyam and her brothers. After much discussions and talks with his grandparents Satyam was finally admitted at the centre. She currently studies in class 6, his brother Shubh is in class 3 and another of his brother Som will come to class 1. Very soon their hard work and dreams are going to bear fruit and they are going to be successful.
I want to help my father and mother because my father is always sick.
The story of Shloka is a sad one. Her father met with an accident some years back and is totally bed ridden and her mother works in the nearby households to earn money but whatever she earns half of it is spent on the medicines her father needs.
It was MAHARISHI PATANJALI EDUCATION GROUP’s Mission Education program that was able to rescue Shloka from her poor conditions and give a direction to her life. She now studies in class 4 in the Mission Education Centre in Max vision, Gurgaon. Her dream is to become a teacher and Mission Education is helping her realize her dream.
“We have a small boat now. But when I grow up, I will buy a big ship, and ask amma and appa to rest.”
Pradip’s parents make a living through boat riding in a small village of Khammam, Telangana, barely earning Rs. 3000 a month. As he grew up, Pradip too started accompanying his parents on their daily rides and would do odd jobs for people, earning a few extra rupees.
It took nearly three years of counseling and countless door to door visits by teachers from Mission Education at Telengana to convince Pradip’s parents to send him to school. They had not wanted to part with the little additional income that he had started bringing in. But in the end, when Pradip insisted, they could not say no to their son.
Now when Pradip goes with his parents on the boat rides and they hear him talking in English with the tourists, they can’t stop smiling. He has also started teaching some English words to his parents to help them deal better with the tourists.

Story of the Day
“I had big dreams when I was younger. But growing up taught me the harshest reality – no one wants a 21-year-old fisherman’s daughter to break from family profession and stand on her own feet. Growing up also taught me why it was necessary to do exactly that.
With an average income of Rs. 9000 a month, my parents struggled to support three young daughters. They would always sacrifice their own needs just to bring a smile on our faces. It was a happy time, but there always existed a grim reality check. I knew I needed to become independent soon, otherwise my family would not be able to bear the burden of feeding five members. There was just so much I could do in a small town of Tiharia, in Sonarpur Zone, and that would frustrate me whenever I felt helpless.
Going to college was tougher because I was trying to make my way through people who were much more educated than I was. This would often challenge my very confidence, that had pushed me to break all barriers in the first place.
Finally, in the last year of my Bachelors’ degree, the pandemic needed more health worker hands on deck to support daily needs of patients. It was a dire situation, but it was also a window of opportunity for people like me who were waiting eagerly to contribute to the system and make a living.
Without wasting time, I joined the STeP training program to develop necessary skills required to become a nurse. As soon as my 3-month course ended, I got placed in a Maternity & Nursing Home near Sonarpur. Completing 8 hours of morning as well as evening shifts, I work hard every day to ensure my job role becomes permanent in the next 6 months. I can’t wait to see the smile on my parents face when I proudly place the same amount of money they brought home when I was a little girl. For me, their duty to support the household will end the same day when I’m able to become independent.”
